Owners deal directly with the people doing the work. Nothing goes out to a third shop across town, and the car does not leave the street between the strip-down and the final polish.

Dealing directly with the workshop
Slick started in a single rented bay off 29B Street with one lift, one welder and a half-finished E30 that took eleven months to get right.
The workshop grew the way the cars did: slowly, and by hand. A second unit opened next door when the finishing work outgrew the space it was sharing with the fabrication bench.
Today the two units run as one shop: strip it, build it, finish it, without the car ever leaving the street.
